“Ramadan Mubarak” is all I hear
from my Muslim friends when
Ramadan begins.
Ramadan—the holiest month in Islam
They stop eating and read the Qur’an
Faith holds spirit from dawn to sunset
Not a tiny waterdrop slips below neck
Alters routines and days begin with
Suhoor before Fajr for every Muslim.
In the name of Allah, Muslims pray
Waiting for Iftar after Maghrib Adhan,
they give Zakat to share the moment
with less fortunate. They say: it feels
good to pay and pray for the deprived
Tarawih bringing them closer to Allah.
The month of Ramadan restores faith.
10 days of Mercy from Ar-Rahman,
10 days of Maghfirah through Tawab,
and the last days for Nijat through Dua,
restore holiness, in the name of Allah.
Ramadan is when Qur’an was revealed,
Ramadan is when prayers bring holiness,
Ramadan is when holiness helps people,
Ramadan is when people are for people,
Ramadan is when people greet Muslims:
Ramadan Kareem! Ramadan Kareem!
Ramadan, the month of patience, ends
with the new moon of Shawwal and
Maghrib Adhan breaks the final fast.
Eid al-Fitr, after next daybreak, is the
day of feast and to my Muslim friend,
I say: “Eid Mubarak”
